R. Johnson says:
Self Inflicted Pain is a book you will not want to be put down! This is a book about recognizing your self-worth. The journey of growth that the main character goes through is one that many can relate to. As the author vividly describes the joys of falling in love, the blessing of creating life, and the promise of a happily ever after, you find yourself rooting for her to win. However, this isn’t a fairy tale and the road to happiness is filled with highs and lows. Dealing with trust, love, heartbreak, friendships, and family, the main character has a lot going on. This book had me hooked from beginning to end. Definitely a page turner. I can’t wait for the next one!

First of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my feelings and thoughts on a beautiful heart felt novel.
Self-Inflected Pain is about a young black woman who starts her life making some wrong choices with the idea of how things should work. They don’t quite work out the way Gypsy wants. Through it all, she has a profound love of her sons. That is the number one priority that Gypsy conveys throughout her story.
Gypsy is living life to the fullest laughing, crying, partying, and sharing her emotional roller coaster with family and friends. Yet the man in her life can’t and won’t give her the love she is willing to give him. Sadly this is a story that we see so many times in our community that a strong young black woman wants so much for her man she forgets herself.
During her translation of finding herself, she finds love in all the wrong places and in my opinion with the wrong person for the wrong reasons. Throughout the book the author has Reflections: “A Mother’s Love” and “Love in the Wrong Place: From Bad to Worse” these two reflections made me think of a time in my life of the people I’ve hurt or been hurt by. Through it, all “Gypsy’s” life and goals come full circle and she starts to realize through a power greater than herself that everything happens for a reason.
This is a must read book. I could not put it down. The author touched on so many things that I have gone through but on a different subject manner. Gypsy speaks straight from the heart and soul of so many people who have made some similar choices in their lives. To have the courage and strength to share her story with the masses is a very brave and cleansing form of expression.

Self Inflicted Pain is a heart-wrenching; emotional story of heartache, joy, love and passion. As you read, you will find it very hard to put it down. The author, Ms. Gypsy, makes you feel as if you are experiencing every word on the page. This book will make you laugh and cry at the same time. And you walk away feeling as though you can conquer anything.
I truly enjoyed it and I greatly appreciate her for allowing my to read Self Inflicted Pain.
